Make a face and give it feelings

Choose the shape of the face and the skin color, then drag the hair, eyes, nose, mouth and ears onto the mirror. Each piece snaps into place on its own. You can add glasses and a bow too.

There are no levels or points: it is free play. When the face is ready, four buttons make it happy, calm, angry or surprised, and the face moves the way it feels. The Save button downloads the face as a picture to print or show.

What children practice

  • The parts of the face and their names: a voice says each part when it is tapped.
  • Feelings: seeing how the eyes and mouth change when the face is happy, angry or surprised.
  • Fine motor skills: picking up a piece and carrying it to its place.
  • Seeing themselves: skin tones from very light to very dark, plus hair, eye and lip colors.

Works on computers, tablets and phones, with nothing to download. No reading needed: every part has a picture and a voice says its name.

Playing in class

On the classroom screen, the class builds one face together: each child comes up, adds a piece and says its name. Then play the feelings game: someone picks how the face feels and everyone copies it.

Frequently asked questions

How do you play Make a Face?

Tap a box at the bottom to see the designs for that part. The face shape and the skin are chosen by tapping; everything else is dragged onto the face and snaps into place.

What age is it for?

From age 3. Pieces snap into place when dropped near the face, and if a child taps a piece instead of dragging it, a hand shows how.

Can I save the face?

Yes. The Save button downloads the face as a picture, ready to print.

Is this a build a face game?

Yes: you build the face piece by piece, choosing each part from the boxes at the bottom.
