Its dark stripes blend into the shadows cast by the plants, so sometimes only its eyes show through the foliage. At dusk it usually rises from its resting spot and stretches its whole body, from the front paws to the tip of the tail. It likes staying in the shade during the hottest hours and heading out to patrol its territory once the sun goes down. Sometimes its roar can be heard from far away, a deep sound that seems to come from every direction at once.
