A butterfly lands on a sun-warmed stone and spreads its wings all the way open to catch the light fully, staying that way for several minutes without moving. Its antennae move ever so slightly, sensing the air around it before it decides which way to fly. When it finds a puddle on the ground, it approaches and touches the surface with its coiled proboscis, uncurling it only as much as needed. It flies in irregular lines, rising and dropping suddenly, as if tracing a different path every time. As the afternoon ends, it looks for a wide leaf where it can fold its wings and stay still until the next day.
